1st Ormiston Brownies meet every Tuesday night at 6.30pm until 8.00pm in
Ormiston Primary School Gym Hall. If you are aged between 7 and 10 years
old and are interested in learning more about the Brownies or would like
to join then come along and meet the girls and staff. Being a Brownie is
all about having loads of fun and a huge adventure! To be a Brownie you
have just got to be a girl aged between seven and 10 years old.
Brownies meet together in a Pack most weeks. The Pack is made up of
small groups called Sixes. A Six is a fab group of friends that has a
great time together. You have a special badge to show what Six you belong
to.
The Pack is run by a Guider and a team of adult leaders. They look
after you and make sure you have a great time on your Brownie Adventure
To be a Brownie you need to be a seven to ten year-old girl, and want
to have lots of fun and real adventure!
Brownies is always packed with fun and there is always masses happening.
You may do things as a whole Pack, or with your Six. Brownies decide what
they are going to do in a Pow-wow. This is when everyone in the Pack talks
about their ideas and make plans.
There are also loads of different badges you can choose to do. They
cover lots of different interests – Agility, Artist, Computer,
Entertainer, First Aid, Friend to animals, Swimmer, Wildlife explorer and
Writer are just a few.
Of course, there are also Brownie sleepovers, holidays and camps and
Adventure days to look forward to. This is when you go away with your
Brownie friends for a day, overnight or even longer.
During your first few Brownie meetings you will be getting ready to
make your Promise. It is the really special bit about being a Brownie. You
should always try to keep it.
THE BROWNIE PROMISE
I promise that I will do my best:
To love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help other people
and
To keep the Brownie Guide Law.
A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a Good Turn
every day
